Corra sound

Corra Sound is a dynamic upper voice ensemble drawing singers together from the South of England.  We have diverse musical backgrounds, training and life experiences, and love to sing a broad variety of music to a high standard. It is our mission to highlight works written by women, for women.

Corra Sound launched in October 2018 at the inaugural Wavelength event and has performed at the prestigious Elgar Festival (Worcester), with harpist Olivia Jageurs at the Ethelflaeda Festival (Romsey Abbey), with Emma Johnson at The Lamberhurst Festival (Kent), with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Boxgrove Priory) and at the MADhurst Festival (Sussex). We were honoured to be the guest ensemble at The Association of British Choral Director’s annual convention (2024) in the University of Reading Great Hall, where we performed with harpist Cecily Beer and Eriks Esenvalds.

Following our recent Call for Scores, where we received 90 submissions from all over the world, Corra Sound was thrilled to host two successful Come and Sing events in Surrey. For all women who love to sing, it featured our winning repertoire for upper voices by female composers.

This summer we performed Ruth Gipps’s sensational Goblin Market - not heard in the UK for 70 years! - with the Great Little Orchestra at Holy Trinity Church, Guildford, and also professionally recorded it with Convivium Records.
